The cosmetic surgery practice of
Marion Mark Vujevich M.D. is the "DERMATOLOGY & COSMETIC SURGERY CENTER", located at 100 North Wren Drive in Scott Township next to St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Here Dr. Vujevich performs Tumescent Liposuction, a technique developed by dermatologists. This technique permits liposuction totally by local anesthesia eliminating the risks associated with general anesthesia. This is now considered the safest form of liposuction for removing very large amounts of fat because there is virtually no blood loss. It uses large volumes of a dilute solution of lidocaine, a local anesthetic,
in combination with the vasoconstrictive drug epinephrine, which temporarily shrinks capillaries. Local anesthesia used in the Tumescent Technique for liposuction is so effective that patients no longer need intravenous sedative, narcotic analgesic, nor general anesthesia. Patients who have previously had liposuction with general anesthesia have found the Tumescent Technique to be less painful, to provide better results, and to result in more rapid healing and recovery. In fact, many of our patients have the procedure done in the morning and go out to dinner the same evening.

Another procedure offered at the Pittsburgh Center for Cosmetic Surgery is Laser Skin Resurfacing. As an expert in the study of the skin, Dr. Vujevich has mastered this technique using the Ultra Pulse laser. Collagen is the basic building block of skin, supplying structure and support. Sun damage degrades the skins normal collagen and replaces it with abnormal elastic fibers that have limited ability to stretch and recoil. Ultra Pulse laser resurfacing improves sun damaged skin by stimulating a healing response which results in deposition of increased amounts of collagen immediately below the surface layer of skin. The new collagen immediately restores the skin to a state that more closely resembles undamaged skin. The Ultra Pulse laser is the only laser that has been granted marketing clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for increased collagen as a result of laser resurfacing. The benefits are renewed sun damaged skin, reduced lines and wrinkles and the ability to regenerate healthier skin.
