LETTER FROM THE ISF DIRECTORS
Dear International Friend,
As Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November (Nov. 24, 2011). It has been an annual tradition in the United States since 1863, when during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving to be celebrated on Thursday, November 26, 1863. However, the tradition actually goes back to when the Pilgrims gave thanks to God for guiding them safely to the New World. The very first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days, providing enough food for 53 pilgrims and 90 Native Americans. The feast consisted of fish (cod, eels, and bass) and shellfish (clams, lobster, and mussels), wild fowl (ducks, geese, swans, and turkey), venison, berries and fruit, vegetables (peas, pumpkin, beetroot and possibly, wild or cultivated onion), harvest grains (barley and wheat), Indian corn, and squash.
So we look forward to our own special ISF celebration of Thanksgiving with you, our International friends, on Saturday, November 12th. We thank God that He has allowed you to come to Pittsburgh. Even if you have had to move away we still want you to know you will always be part of our international family.
--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Directors
